Tips
Washing
If your hair is longer than 10 inches already, you should start being very gentle when washing. The main rule is not to pile it up on your head! If you do this, you will cause lots of tangles and it will be very dificult to comb after the washing process, which means it will be more prone to breakage.
A good shampoo should also be in your bathtub. But what is a good shampoo? It depends, since there are an enourmous variety of hair types and also an enormous variety or shampoos and conditioners. Therefore, you should keep on trying diferent brands and labels untill you find out what works best for your hair. Then you should stick to it and keep washing your hair with your favorite product.
Don't wash your hair more than twice a week (unless your hair is oily), for if you do you will dry your hair out!
Drying
Many people like to dry their hair with a blowdryer and it works alright for several long haired people. Tough heat damages the hair, and it would be a risk you’d have to run for yourself. Air drying is less time consuming and leaves your hair with a very natural look, and is not damaging at all. To air dry your hair, you should wrap it in a towel after your wash it (don’t ever rub with the towel, it will cause damage!). Then leave it up for 5 to 10 minites and take it out. Then comb gently and let it air dry, which in my case can sometimes take all day, but usually takes 2 to 3 hours for most people.
Oiling
Oiling is a personal choice and you should do it if your hair is dry or really long (or both). You can find oils for the hair in lots of places, being the best oils for hair sweet almond oil (the one I use), coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and many others. Just browse trough the net for hair oiling if you are interested =) For oiling your hair you can do heavy oilings or light oilings. Heavy oiling is to oil all your hair, from the roots to the ends, with a considerable amount of oil, covering all your hair (you can do this once a month or so). Light oiling, which I do everytime I wash my hair, is applying a small portion of oil from the ears down, concentrating on the ends. Oiling helps with detangling, provides shine and may reduce split ends in the long run!
